So sad to hear the news of Eddie’s passing. I remember Eddie & Jill from the time that Katie & Tom attended Pathfield school. Such a lovely couple who did so much for others despite going through their own struggles & losses. It seems so unfair that they were all taken too soon. I hope Elizabeth can take comfort from all the amazing achievements of her parents, which came about because of Katie & Tom

Eddie was a remarkable man, I worked alongside him at DCCSocial Services, his wife Jill was part of the team at Torridge District Social Services. Working with Eddie I was humbled by his capacity to deliver a professional service in his career & maintain a dedicated personal family life and at the same time lay the foundations for CHSW, words fail me. After Eddie & I parted company with Devon County Council we used to meet up for lunch (usually at the Fremington Quay cafe). You are the best.

I am deeply saddened to see the news of Eddie's death. As others have said, he led a life of true public service. He and his wife Jill have left a real legacy to support children, young people, and their families in the South West. As a young NHS commissioner, he really inspired me with his unwavering passion.

I had the privilege of meeting Eddie and Jill when I was part of the team that looked after Katie and Tom at Pathfield School. They were both such an inspiration, their faith and resilience has been a beacon of light to me during trying times. I hope Lizzy finds strength and comfort in this too and the wonderful legacy left behind by her family. Our sincere condolences to all of Eddie ‘S family friends and colleagues.

We have worked with Eddie for over 30 years his dedication, enthusiasm and compassion for life limited children was unbounded he will be sorely missed. He was an inspiration to all those children taking part in the Exmoor Youth Challenge and encouraged them to raise over £160,000 over the years

I just want to say how much I admired the wonderful man that was Eddie Farwell. The work carried out at these Children’s Hospices must bear testament to someone who dedicated his life to helping to provide support for such poorly children and their families. I was a volunteer at Charlton Farm for some years and saw first-hand what the care and respite care meant to them. Eddie leaves an amazing legacy.

We first met Eddie by chance fifteen years ago whilst visiting LBH. He took time out from his busy schedule to share with us his passion and vision for CHSW, leaving us humbled and in awe that he had built something so positive after so much loss. We have kept in contact over the years and greatly looked forward to our meetings, to learn of his plans and ambitions for CHSW and to spend time with a such charming and inspirational man. Eddie leaves a truly outstanding legacy.

Eddie was my boss when I worked at NDDH. He was a wonderful man to work with and I knew him and Gill out of work by being part of their vision and hard work to start Children South West Hospice. Eddie was a remarkable man, dedicated to his family and Hospices. My sincere sympathies go to Lizzie.

I have had very great pleasure to have met Eddie on several occasions that little bridge House what a man a hero in my eyes such a gentleman he sad loss in such a lovely man at least now he's rest with his family but he did so much good for the community and especially from my grandson we suffers with cerebral palsy a hero yes a real hero unsung hero that I had to greatest pleasure to meet I will sadly miss him god bless him and thank you

I've no idea how you found the strength to achieve all that you did. Anybody else, with all you already had to deal with, would surely have left it to others. I've always admired you more than I could ever say. It was an honour to volunteer for you for a few years, and an even greater honour to meet you. Despite me being a tiny cog in the wheel, I'll never forget that you actually thanked me. I've always wished I had said no; thank YOU!! And told you that you were my hero. So THANK YOU!!

When you and Jill decided to build the first Little Bridge House near to the North Devon Hospice in Barnstable we were all worried about the impact on both charities. But your dedication, hard work and charisma made it a pleasure to work alongside you both. Your willingness to work cooperatively meant both charities thrived and we had great fun at many joint events and activities. Thank you Eddie for all you have done. Rest now.

CHSW has helped, supported and guided our family for the last 12 years. Without Little Bridge House the outlook would have been very different. Not only providing much needed respite but delivering parcels during COVID, the sibling team allows brothers and sisters to navigate a world that can be stressful and worrying. Eddie and his wife were visionaries who stepped in and helped families across the SouthWest. Sending my deepest condolences to you all.

Really sad to hear of Eddie’s death. I so admired his dedication and that of his wife to starting this amazing project at a time when they were both working in demanding jobs as well as being parent carers. His thoughts were with all in similar situations and he overcame so many obstacles and additional sadness along the way to achieve his goals and dreams. What a tremendous legacy! Before moving to Malta in 2015 I worked with Falmouth Friends for 8 years. Eddie was such an inspiration, with all that had happened it still worked hard to make life better for others. Very sad day and especially so following Mary Murffin’s passing.

I've known Eddie since he and Jill started fundraising to build Little Bridge house when I founded fundraising group in Lostwithiel. He and Jill were amazing couple. They've founded an incredible charity. Love to Lizzy ❤️

I worked for Children’s Hospice and met Eddie a number of times. He was always a true gentleman who would take the time to speak to anyone. His passion for the charity was incredible and was always appreciative of everyone supporting the cause.
