Lizzie, your Dad spoke a lot about you and how he loved doing things with you, country walks especially with your dog. He loved that you sang in a choir, I am guessing the one who sang today. You had two very special parents. I was delighted when Eddie became a Governor for Pathfield School and really valued his enthusiasm for the children here, the school Tom and Katie attended (I remember doing music sessions with them both), If you'd like, do come and visit us.

We (Cockington Primary school) walked to raise money for CHSW on more than one occasion because you and you dear wife Jill showed such kindness respect and more than anything just buckets of love to a couple of our families at the time. (early 2000's I think?). The first time we walked we decided to walk to Little Bridge House from Mid Devon (Wembworthy). It was 20 miles of up hill & down Dale arriving about mid afternoon to be quietly greeted by you Eddie. You had a warm smile & the kettle on!

I worked with Eddie before he started the hospice while he was with Devon County Council Social Services. He left a lasting impression on me a truly great man who has achieved so much and for so many people. It is a total pleasure to have known and worked with Eddie and his loss leaves a massive hole but he will never be forgotten. He will always live on and be remembered with love by so many. Not many people can make such an impact and touch so many people.

The CHSW is a charity I've supported over the years but the CHSW is also the charity our local gardening club have supported and over the years we have raised over £12,000 from our annual Plant Sale and Show. We were delighted that Annabel Roberts from Little Harbour, St Austell came to our AGM in March and gave an very interesting presentation about the amazing work the charity carries out caring for children with life limiting conditions.

I, nor my family, knew you, but your work touched my late mother’s heart and she spent years fundraising for CHSW in her own small way, including putting on exhibitions of her artwork and donating any profits from sales. Eddie was very welcoming to me when I had the privilege to work at CHSW and made the effort to greet me again when I returned a second time. Most of the Marwood Friends of CHSW have known Eddie for over 40 years as a neighbour and friend. He moved into our parish with his wife Jill and 2 young children Katie and Tom, later Lizzy was born. We shared their vision of a children’s hospice in the south west to save them and others the long journey to Oxford. Although we as a community supported the family we knew they needed more specialist help, that just wasn’t available in N.Devon at the time. We were actively involved from the charity’s beginning, helping out Eddie and Jill in their laundry room. Their integrity and dedication were clear for all to see. Ours was the first Friends Group formed in 1991 and Eddie always recognised that. Our fundraising events have raised a lot of money over more than 30 years and our commitment is still strong, as the charity will always have a place in our hearts based on our love for the Farwell family.
